Glance of Datawarehouse and Business Intelligent (BI)

The current trend of an enterprise which we often hear is Datawarehouse and Business Intelligent (BI). Many articles have been circulating on Datawarehouse and BI (Business Intelligent). Therefore in this paper I will try to explain a little about what was in relation to Datawarehouse BI.

In each of the development of a system / application software must not be separated from a database. Generally a data from the application are stored in the database is transactional, or that we know the term OLTP (online transactional procesing). Along with his time running, the database will continue to grow, grow, growing, and growing, so the performance of the OLTP database can not be optimal anymore. On the other hand from the top management requires data - data that had accumulated for the needs analysis that will ultimately made a strategic decision.

It required some place or other databases with the purpose of analysis, which in this case nature is the OLAP (online analytical procesing). It is called Datawarehouse. So a simple datawarehouse database migration process from the OLTP to OLAP nature.

Now the process of moving from OLTP to OLAP this is what is called the process of ETL (extracting, trnsforming, and loading). One example of ETL tools is OWB (oracle warehouse builder). After all the ETL process has been completed and the data has matured and is ready, it would require a report that will be used by end users for use as analysis. This is called the BI. One of the BI tools that an oracle product is BIEE (Business Intelligent Enterprise Edition).

So, that's a little explanation on Datawarehouse and BI, may be useful.
